The Col de l'Izoard is one of the legendary Alpine passes on the "Route des Grandes Alpes." While not the highest pass on the route, it is certainly one of the most spectacular. On the northern side, a small plateau is reached only after 29 hairpin bends and switchbacks. In honor of its builder, a several-meter-high obelisk, visible from afar, was erected on this plateau. Thus, the Col de l'Izoard is a prominent landmark on the "Route des Grandes Alpes"—represented in a stylized black-and-white graphic.
