From Lindau to Thusis and from Thusis to Lindau
The tour with a varied thrill of bends between the Swabian Sea and the Grisons Alps.
Ahead of you is an absolute dream route for all who love asphalt, hairpin bends and monumental mountain scenery. This route combines the best that the tri-border region and the Swiss High Alps have to offer.
Depending on time, mood and preference, this tour offers both a short and a long variant in addition to the roadbooks in both directions. The long variant is 285 kilometers, 55 kilometers longer. In addition, the long variant includes the two Alpine passes Albulapass and Flüelapass. This means that the pure driving time is just over 6 hours – while the shorter variant is only 4 hours and 30 minutes. Your decision might also depend on the recommended stop in Vaduz, as there is much to admire there.
The route touches two absolutely brilliant motorcycle spots: On one side, the deeply relaxed, almost Mediterranean-influenced Lindau on Lake Constance. Directly on the lively harbor promenade, you can feel the mild climate, perfect for unwinding or plunging into the alpine curve frenzy. At the other end of the route awaits Thusis in the canton of Graubünden. As a historic market town at the foot of the San Bernardino and Splügen passes, Thusis is an absolute strategic hub and the perfect gateway to the monumental Viamala Gorge.
In between, you'll experience pure driving pleasure. The route takes you through the pre-Alpine landscape of Vorarlberg, where you'll tackle the expansive curves of the Losenpass and the challenging 14 percent gradient on the narrow Furkajoch. Further into the Swiss giants, you'll reach true high-altitude regions: the Wolfgang Pass, the Flüelapass at a proud 2,383 meters, and the Albulapass, where the legendary Albula Railway crosses the rugged mountain landscape, seamlessly follow one another.
The perfect pit stop: Culture and panorama in miniature
No matter which direction you come from – right in the middle of the tour, it's time to let the engine cool down briefly and stretch your legs. There's no better place for this than Vaduz. The capital of the Principality of Liechtenstein offers you the perfect blend of relaxation and spectacular scenery.
While you enjoy a coffee in one of the cafes in the pedestrianized center, your gaze automatically wanders upwards to the imposing walls of Vaduz Castle, majestically enthroned above the town. Behind it, the massive panorama of the Swiss three-thousanders unfolds – the perfect backdrop for a well-deserved break on this high-alpine dream round.
Let the next curve adventure begin!
